Scoring Explained
We've developed a traffic light scoring system, so you can easily see how your MP has voted on environmental issues.
Each MP is given a score of +1 for any vote in favour of climate action, -1 for voting against climate action, and 0 for any absences.
The total score of all votes is then divided by the number of votes the MP could possibly have attended. This is to account for the fact that not all MPs held their seats for all the votes we have selected. Final scores are in the range from -1 to +1.
MPs are then sorted into Red, Amber and Green depending on their climate score.
RED
A score between -1 and -0.5
These MPs voted mostly against measures to tackle climate change.
AMBER
A score between -0.5 and +0.5
These MPs did not vote strongly for or against measures to tackle climate change.
GREEN
A score between +0.5 and +1
These MPs voted mostly for measures to tackle climate change.
